- Creation and Management of New Domains; DRE Users; & Connections
- The Ability to Schedule Replications
- Access to DRE log files
The Scheduler / Servicer layer of the DRE is the workhorse of the system. This layer manages all scheduled jobs, and then delegates a Servicer to perform the actual replication.
Connection
The Connection is the basic building block of the DRE. A Connection defines the following:
- A Gateway to get data from (Source)
- A Gateway to push data to (Destination)
- Information needed to log into both the source and the destination
- A schedule of how often to replicate the data
- Rules to parse, filter, re-write, and re-sort the data
Gateways are the tools that the DRE uses to talk to various data sources and data destinations, such as databases, files, API’s, etc. It is key to note that the Servicer and the Connection do not know, or need to know how to talk to various sources or destinations. They talk in a pre-arranged way to the Gateways. A User can simply plug in a new Gateway at any time without needing to modify the DRE.
